Glärnisch: alpinism and glacier techniques course

Rising above Klöntalersee and easily visible from Zurich, the Glärnisch massif remains one of Switzerland's hidden alpine gems. During this two- or three-day course based at Glärnischhütte, you will learn glacier travel, crampon techniques, ridge progression and rope management while exploring one of the wildest mountain groups in northeastern Switzerland. Depending on weather, fitness and conditions, the programme may include the ascent of Vrenelisgärtli or Ruchen.

Monte Rosa: Castor and Pollux

The Monte Rosa massif offers one of the greatest concentrations of 4000-metre peaks in the Alps. While the technical difficulties remain moderate, successful ascents require good fitness, glacier skills and proper acclimatisation. Depending on your ambitions, we can climb Breithorn, Pollux and Castor while staying at the Guide d'Ayas Hut for two or more nights. This itinerary is also an excellent introduction to alpine mountaineering, combining classic summits with practical instruction in glacier travel, rope work and high-altitude safety. Departures are possible from either Zermatt or Champoluc.

Climbing and multi-pitch technique

Climbing harder is not only about strength. Good technique is the key to long-term progression. During this two-day course at Capanna Albigna, we will focus on movement efficiency, footwork, balance, route reading and multi-pitch climbing techniques through personalised coaching. The exceptional granite surrounding the hut provides one of Switzerland's finest natural climbing classrooms, with routes suitable for every level.

Self-rescue for climbing and mountaineering

Even experienced climbers occasionally encounter unexpected situations. Learning self-rescue techniques allows you to deal with problems efficiently while waiting for professional assistance—or avoid needing it altogether. This two-day workshop covers hauling systems, escaping the belay, improvised lowering and raising techniques, partner rescue and emergency rope manoeuvres used by professional mountain rescuers. Courses can be organised at Capanna Albigna (Bregaglia) or Mettmenalp (Glarus), depending on conditions and your objectives.

Furkapass climbing

Furka Pass is home to some of the finest granite climbing in Switzerland. Solid rock, short approaches and spectacular alpine scenery make it an ideal destination for discovering classic multi-pitch climbing. The elegant routes on Hannibal Turm—including the famous Honeymoon (5c–6a)—are perfect for climbers looking to take their first steps into alpine granite. More challenging objectives are available for experienced parties wishing to explore the outstanding climbing of the Furka region.

Monte Rosa Traverse (Vincent – Margherita – Dufour)

Experience the highest mountains in Switzerland on a multi-day journey across the spectacular Monte Rosa massif. Starting from Gnifetti Hut, we can combine several iconic objectives, including Piramide Vincent (Normal Route or Cresta del Soldato), Capanna Margherita—the highest mountain hut in Europe—and, for experienced mountaineers, the majestic Dufourspitze, Switzerland's highest summit. Depending on your objectives and acclimatisation, the programme lasts between two and four days. The recommended starting point is Gressoney.
